Difference between purebred and mixed breed Toygers: Purebred Toygers have been Toygers for four generations ( from great-grandparents onwards ), and their pedigree number from the international organization TICA begins with the letters SBT.
- Mixed-breed Toygers have been bred with other cat breeds (Bengals) within the last four generations, and their pedigree numbers from the international organization TICA begin with the letters AON to CON.
AON means one parent is a Bengal, BON means one grandparent is a Bengal, and CON means one great-grandparent is a Bengal, with CON being the closest to purebred.
Even though they are called Toygers, they are often not purebred.
When inquiring, it might be a good idea to ask questions like, "Is this a Toyger that can be entered in TICA shows?" or "Are there any Bengals in the last four generations?"
